Nothing really new.
This offers nothing new and a lot of regurgitaed opinions taken from a host of sources. From a spiritual aspect, our body has the power to convert what is eaten to what the body needs if one believes in their power to do so. The medical establishment and the meat and dairy business would have us believe otherwise.

The book is quite informative however I did not give it 5 stars as it talks about and appears to buy into the "evolution" theory which I strongly oppose. I am a Christian and am a firm believer that God created us all; we did not "evolve" from animals!#!!

Good book, I don't recommend buying the Kindle version
I like this book and have bought it in hard copy for relatives but made the mistake of buying my copy in electronic form. Unfortunately the index in the electronic version does not have page numbers therefore rendering the index useless. One of the things I really like about this book is being able to find out about an issue/health problem in a very efficient way; not having a workable index, for me, makes the electronic version fairly useless.

Optimal !
Probably the better book on nutrition. Looks at a holistic food approach, which can work miracles for your health if properly applied

Fundamentally flawed...
Most of this book offers sound advice on nutrition, with a lot of proven scientific explanation on how the body metabolises food and drink. I found that side of the book informative and useful - and at a bargain price that made it worth while buying. However, to state that early humans were grazers is scientifically proven not to be the case, quite the opposite in fact, being hunter gatherers. Common sense would tell us that the search for food would produce intermittent results, leaving little time to sit around eating all day.In modern times, grazing practices which continuously raise blood sugar and spike insulin, is the quickest route to developing insulin resistance and ultimately diabetes. For that reason, the false premise is fundamentally damaging to health.

Readable
I devoured this book, finding it fascinating, and put many of the principles into practice which made me feel great, alongside an exercise DVD. I still remember and follow much of the advice two years later. All of my friends and family heard about this book - it contains very interesting explanations for things which are highly motivating once you know in detail why something is bad for you, and what continued exposure will do to you. Its well written in a way thats easy to understand and read quickly. This book was the catalyst for a tremendous change in diet for me. I worked in a fast food restaurant for nearly a decade, and since reading this (and leaving my job) I've been able to talk myself out of the wrong food choices much more often and I feel in better health nearing thirty than I did when I was young - I was ill almost monthly catching everything going, I had frequent insomnia, now I have had one cold on two years and sleep with no problems. My skin has also vastly improved, with adult acne becoming the odd spot and eczema on every limb reducing to slight eczema on my hands - so I've still some way to go. Namely sorting out food allergies, but all change needs to happen one step at a time!

Fantastic book.
A reference book I used for University and helped me pass my first year studying Sport Coaching Science and Nutrition. This isn't a bedtime reading book, this is to gain extra knowledge in specifics of nutrition. It offers recommendations to how to help and what to avoid when it comes to refining one's diet and lifestyle. Fantastic book.

a must read
absolutely loved this book. so nice to read about nutrition without the view point of weight loss or muscle gain. Its a scientific approach to explaining whats in our food and how things have evolved over time. I've made some adjustments to my diet as a result and feel wonderful. i.e. cutting out additives, unnecessary chemicals/bad stuff and fad foods I thought I needed but was just not making me feel brilliant.
