Strong and functional
This is a very strong pull up bar with great dimensions for use. The foam on the handles may not last forever, but that is easily replaced with some wrapping for tennis rackets or somthing like that. So far mine has lasted, it looks like it wont. The bar is set for 24" spacing on your ceiling joists. This is stupid. So you need to mount a 2X10 on accross your joists and then mount to to the 2x10. In a raw basement this is fine. But in a finished environmnet this may look a little tacky unless you paint it or somehtings. But, overall it is a great product.I saw some revies that it mounts crooked. Simple assemble it loosely then mount is square and then tighten the bolts the rest of the way.It is a rock solid bar when mounted on a seperate 2X10. This also allowed me to span 4 floor joists (three is ok) which provided even more stability.I'd have no hesiation buying this product again

Great Product
I used this piece of equipment regularly and it works great. It is well made, I currently weight 240 lbs and it does not flinch regardless of the number of pullups I do. Originally, I was thinking on buying a Power Tower, so I went to the store to buy one but realized that they are not as well made, and decided to go with this and a separate Dip Station instead. I am glad I decided to buy this.

Solid pull-up bar, though order the right size...
I ordered the 24" version of the pull-up bar bar and just got through installing it in our workout room this morning. Overall, the product is solid and installation would have been simple had I ordered the correct size. When ordering, the offer a 16" and 24" width - which it turns out is for the mounting distance between the ceiling joists. Nowhere in the product description was that clearly specified so I had ordered the 24" version. Well, turns out the spacing between my ceiling joists is the standard 16". Wish I had known this before ordering.Despite this all, installation was pretty simple as I simply mounted the ceiling brackets, determined the new location for the mouthing on the bar and drilled new mounting holes in the bar. Again, maybe not ideal but easier than trying to figure out how to return/exchange this. Only other slight issue was one of the mounts was slightly bent out of the box...though not enough to warrant complaint. All this said, the bar is rock solid (I am 235 lbs) and did not even quiver under use. The foam grips are fine and, while there will be wear, I am not concerned about them falling apart prematurely. When the do wear out, tending racket grip or bicycle grip wrap would certainly be an easy replacement.I would recommend this bar, just make sure you determine which ceiling joist installation you need so that you order the correct unit.

Useless
This pullup bar is junk. The metal frame is very thin, and when screwed together, is not stable. The bar screws from the bottom up into the two brackets. The screws included felt like plastic. I would not feel safe using this. Don't make the mistake I did guys, buy something that is welded as one piece and solid.

Good, not great
I just got the pull up bar installed in my garage. It looks great and does what it is supposed to do. But, I am not impressed with the quality control of the device. First the holes were 23" centers not 24". Then, the mounting brackets are not square. I centered one of the mounting brackets on the joist and oblonged one of the holes to make up for the out of square issue. I had to scab a short piece of 2x4 on to the other joist so the lag bolts would have something solid to bite in to. Thankfully I had a scuttle entrance into the attic close by. I usally don't write reviews but, I would hope that the product quality control might improve before it's shipped. I know I'm not the first to complain about the out of square brackets.

CAUTION: Read this before ordering...
There are a few things you should be aware of before ordering this since the Amazon page makes no mention of this anywhere in it's advertisement above. 1) This bar is made to be mounted to ceiling joists that are 24 INCHES APART ON CENTER. Most of you know that's not exactly code in the US (or at least no where that I know of). My garage was built in the 20's and it has joists that are 16 inches apart (still code in the US). Another house we own was built in 2009 and it has joists that are 16 inch apart. So unless you have something different prepare to do some carpentry work. 2) Construction to bolt the pieces together is exceedingly easy, however, once bolted together the whole unit doesn't exactly "square up" very well. Placing the assembled unit next to a straight edge shows you that the mounting brackets are skewed somewhat. No matter what I did, I could not get this to square properly. So what does this mean? Probably won't make a difference in your workout - BUT - it means you can't use the installation instructions as they are written since they tell you to use the unassembled mounting bracket as a template to drill the pilot holes in your now carpentarized ceiling joists. But you can't do that because they won't line up. You need to assemble the entire unit BEFORE using the entire unit to mark your pilot holes. It's a sturdy piece of gear but these other items make this a pretty disappointing purchase.

Good product
This is a good product and works well on UK rafters, the key is not doing the allen keys up too tight before you try and mount the bars otherwise it looks like they bars won't fit, but they do.Very solid in use.
