Forgiving to work with and sands beautifully
Got the first couple coats on my dinghy this weekend working outdoors in a wind that picked up to 30mph gusts the minute I catalyzed the paint... Hat blowing into the woods, paint blowing off the brush, so many seeds in the paint I was afraid the boat was gonna sprout as soon as it hit water... Working really fast I laid an unwaxed and then a waxed coat, got around to sanding it today. All my application sins are forgiven. The coverage is outstanding. Im slowly working up to high grits but already my beloved Hobie Hawk is looking a million times better and the amount of reinforcement (and hiding !) this gel coat has added to thirty years of bad fibreglass repairs is making me feel a lot better about dragging her up beaches. I laid it on extra heavy along the keel for more protection. I've never worked with gel before and don't claim to be good at it. But I'm really happy with the results so far. A couple people out walking their dogs stopped to comment on how sharp looking the color is. It's gorgeous! I definitely need one last coat or a touch up due to overzealous sanding in a couple spots, and rushed application. This product is extremely forgiving to work with. The catamaran is next !!!!Attached pic shows the hull part way through sanding. It's far from done but going great.
