This is a niche backpack, its not designed for rock climbing or humping up to the top of high hills. This sturdy, rugged pack is made for wandering around forests, lakesides and other wet areas. The absolute joy of the Stubben is being able to take it off, put it down on a sodden surface and then sit high and dry. It rains a fair bit here in Scotland and our green land has a lot of moss, before this pack just sitting to enjoy the surroundings was a wet pants occasion all the way home but not with the Stubben. Space wise it has a great daypack size made compartment with additional access from the front so you can get your binoculars, stove, food etc out while sitting down. Lots of decent sized pockets for other ready use items and I added the optional side pockets for water bottles and tools. The build quality it excellent, between the sturdy material and strong stitching it will probably outlast my wandering years. As for weight, if you are an ounce/gramme counter and enjoy wandering with nothing heavier than gossamer light equipment then jog on as this is not for you. If you appreciate robust reliable kit that is strong enough to take all the bumps and knocks the world outside website pages holds then this may be for you. Finally, if like me you are tired of having a wet backside every time you sit and stare in the great outdoors then this pack is a real find.
