Therefore, the durable water repellency (dwr) of your footwear must be maintained to ensure comfort. It will eventually wear off and need to be renewed with Nikwax nubuck & suede prooftm. When you're active and wearing footwear, your socks draw moisture away from your feet, keeping them dry. However, if your footwear absorbs water and 'wets out' its breathability will be reduced. Moisture vapour will not be able to escape through the material, so your feet will feel clammy and wet. Nikwax nubuck & suede prooftm adds durable water repellency (dwr), which prevents water absorption, whilst maintaining breathability, keeping your feet dry and comfortable. Anyone who is active outside in damp or wet conditions will benefit from breathable waterproof footwear. Whether you're a mountaineer, cyclist, dog walker, or you work outside as a farmer or surveyor, you will need good footwear. Your footwear could be soaking up water just because it is dirty. First, try cleaning it with Nikwax footwear cleaning geltm, and if it is fairly new, or recently re-waterproofed, the durable water repellency (dwr) will be revitalised just from cleaning. But, once the footwear has been thoroughly worn you will need to add dwr, using Nikwax nubuck & suede prooftm, after cleaning first with Nikwax footwear cleaning geltm. Alternative waterproofing products are often solvent-based aerosols; alternatively, they may be water-based and use fluorocarbons. Aerosol products are flammable. Fluorocarbons pose a potential risk to the environment and to the long-term health of the consumer.Solvent-based products also need to be applied to dry materials. This is a safe product to use on breathable waterproof footwear. It is completely non-flammable, contains no Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and is Fluorocarbon free.

Waterproofed Australia Luxe Sheepskin Boots..
I have used the nikwax nubuck & suede spray to waterproof mine & my daughters sheepskin boots. We haven’t worn them out in the rain/wet yet as not had the weather, so don’t know products full waterproofing capability just yet.The product was quite simple to use, I got confused on the instructions ‘use while boots are still damp’, as both pairs of my boots were brand new, not ‘still damp’. After research on the internet I found out that the reason for using spray on damp surfaces is it helps the product absorb deeper into the material, thus improving waterproofing. So, with that in mind I decided to wet my boots using water in spray bottle, fine mist gave more even coverage of water across the boots. I then patted any surface water with paper towel & then continued to use the nikwax spray as instructed on the bottle. It does state that spray could darken lighter coloured suede, and the pair of chestnut/tan boots I waterproofed did darken slightly. For me tho, this wasn’t a problem as boots were brand new & the darker colour is even, no water marks or darker spots, So can’t really tell or notice the colour change slightly.

Didn't seem to offer much protection or waterproofing
I used this repeatedly on my Nubuck and suede boots (Meindl hiking boots), but it didn't seem to really "work" very well. In the end I used G-Wax instead, which "nourished" the boot uppers much more and also provided more waterproofing. I can't recommend this product. Although G-Wax will alter the appearance of your Nubuck and suede, it will protect it better than this Nikwax product.I have found all other Nikwax products to be very good, especially their waxed cotton treatment, but I don't think the Nubuck/suede treatment is a good product.

Works remarkably well
Used on a pair of hiking boots with elegant but vulnerable panels of grey nubuck, it protected them from staining when they got wet and muddy. There is no sign of the white bands of evaporated minerals that usually affect nubuck when it gets wet and dries.

Great quality product
I use this on my walking boots and my daughter’s Ugg boots and it’s great stuff. It keeps the water out and dries easily. Just make sure you don’t get it on your flooring or it turns it into an ice rink.

Soak the shoe, dab off droplets with kitchen roll dries totally clear. Water does infacr just bead off.
