XtremepowerUS 2HP Self Prime In/Above Ground Swimming Pool Pump 2" NPT Fitting ETL

My first unit came and when installed wouldn't run - Amazon replaced it the next day and I used Kohl's to send back the old unit.Very easy install - I had to cut and replace a bunch of pipes as this was a different size to the old pump, but the machine itself was easy to install. The two pipe connections to the pump are hand tightened so the unit should be easy to take out for future service needs.This unit does require 240v (2 live wires at 120v each) - my old unit was 240v so this was OK but please check before you order! In addition to 2 lives there is 1 ground that goes to the electric panel and a second ground on the outside of the unit that I connected to a ground rod.The unit is quiet. It is almost inaudible at low speed, at high speed it's a little louder but still much quieter than my old unit. BTW another review mentions that the low speed will not move your pool cleaner and I can confirm this - you have to use the high speed setting to use a pool cleaner.

Update: Purchased this pump back in MAR 2020 - I have been running the Xtreme Power 2 HP Pump for over a year and it was easy to install and ran very quiet. That is the only good I can say about this pump. This pump is SO WEAK, No Way is it 2 HP! The pump I replaced was a 1.5 HP StaRite Maxiflo and it moved twice as much water. After installation it was so weak it could not run my automatic pool cleaner and my pool heater would not run because of the minimal water flow. Had to go old school with a hose and hand vacuum the bottom of pool and it could barely suck up a leaf. My pool stayed dirty and nobody wanted to swim in it. Don't waste your money on this Chinese piece of crap! Invest in a quality pump so you will don't get burned like me. I bought a new AO Smith 2 HP Motor and a StaRite MaxiFlo rebuild kit and installed it on the old StaRite pump housing and my pool is sparkling clear. My fault for going the cheap route. Anyone need a boat anchor? Don't Buy This Product!

This pump has two speeds, and they work great. In the low setting you hardly hear it running. I replaced a whisper pro with this and even in the high setting it is much quieter than the whisper pro! So far it is running well. five days now.

So when i bought this as a replacement for an old Hayward pump that worked well for over 10 years, i was very skeptical since the price point was so low. The Hayward would have cot 6-900 dollars this was 250. My thought was i could use one of the other Haywards and use this for accessories if it did not work well.First, if you have EVER touched wiring of any thing this will be a snap to install. I think it took longer to screw the conduit adapter in than to wire the thing. Super easy. The connection we standard PVC work so that is just boring, no fault of the pump.When i turned it on i was SHOCKED! So quite i did have to look thru the top of the lid to see it filling. It was on slow speed so i switched to full and it was not much louder. After it fully primed i moved it back to slow speed and only saw a slight drop in flow rate but the sound disappeared again! Very impressed.I will have to see how longevity is but so far it is supper!The negative i have is not its fault as i think it is performing as rated, i should have paid more attention to the flow rates. I replace a 2hp with a 2 hp and did not consider the flow rate. The old one move TON of water. This unit does fine but about 1/2 the flow i was expecting. Again not the pumps fault but i was still disappointed

End of day 1 so take with a grain of salt (have a salt water pool btw). I've had 4 pools including one I built with help from a few subs of course. I've used nothing but the "name brand equipment" in my build and repairs until now. Anyway, I'm not a rookie. So I admit it this was a hard order to place until I unpacked this motor.The filter basin is identical quality of the others to put it simply. I didn't have to move a pipe replacing my Pentair basin and motor. So on to electrical and the confusing post I read before buying. This couldn't be any easier L+L+Ground =220v. The difference with this is its DUAL speed with a switch so one hot on the switch which tied back to the motor which left the other hot in the middle of the two. You WILL need to buy female electrical connectors for the install and they don't come with the motor. I had them but most folks don't.Finally performance is clearly better then a 10 year 1HP Pentair. Everyone say DUH! However, my pool cleaner is moving twice as fast and I had to adjust my jets down more center. They water was being pushed that much harder causing a splash effect on the deck I never had before. So to wrap this up, it's a great buy. Just try to find another dual speed pump for this money which appears on day 1 well spent. I'll post again if any issues or in 3 months.

Pump was easy to install, it says two speeds, but the only one that actually is able to pump effectively is the high speed, the low is too weak.It worked fine until yesterday. I turned it on and it worked for only one or two seconds. Now the pump is dead.called the manufacturer, Extremepowerus and a recording comes on but no-one answers the phone.Do not buy!
